The Franchise Shoes
It might be a few years late but John “The Franchise” Strickland finally has his own Air Force 1’s. The shoe has his nickname, “Franchise”, stamped in the heel and the tongue features Strick’s signature line “Finish Your Breakfast.” The rest of these limited edition AF1’s are, of course, perfectly white. It’s a great way for Nike to pay respects to a man who is equally known for being a basketball legend as he is for being an entertainer.
One of NYC’s finest.

Cowboy Pasta. Ok, bare with me, this is a little silly. But, hello, hot dogs and cute sombrero pasta? That was an easy sell. No veggies and butter on the pasta. Yippee aye ay, or however the heck you spell that!

11/11: HOME COOKIN’!

:: chicken parmesan w/ pasta and a bottle of La Crema Pinot Noir ::

on a windy, chilly night after a dark, long week of the sun setting too damn depressingly early this meal was so craved, and needed

we sliced chicken breasts thinly into cutlets and soaked them in milk for a while / then dusted them w/ spices and dredged them through tapioca and corn flour

heated up the wok with olive oil and fried those cutlets two by two, pan-fried ~two minutes on each side

then we let them rest for a minute / then we rested for a minute and sipped our wine / preheated the oven to 450 degrees, boiled a pot of water

afterward, applied a spoonful of marinara and slices of mozzarella atop each golden portion, sliding them into the oven for 15 minutes then kicking off the pasta…

until boom, the pasta was finished and plated, the chicken parm, perfectly browned transferred from oven to counter side,

and… yyyes, Friday, home, how delicious, I love you, all good things—warm and plentiful and pleasing and satisfyingly messy :)

Voodoo Doughnut is a legend in Portland, OR. The downtown location is open 24/7/365, and it has a large logo-laden novelty doughnut mounted on the wall. This doughnut bears a scar from a group of pranksters who attempted to steal it a few years back, only to be foiled by legions of loyal doughnut-goers waiting in Voodoo’s ever-present line. The patrons brought the villains to justice, and the doughnut back to the wall.
